Configure the "edoc plugin ecm" functions in the forms

Your users open the ECM application in the Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations ribbon by clicking on edoc plugin ecm or on an entry under edoc plugin ecm links if you have mapped multiple shortcuts to the form as an administrator.

For each Dynamics 365 form, you can specify the visibility of the edoc plugin ecm function and the destination location in the ECM application (e.g. edoc workplace, collection of documents, document, tasks) or any website.

You specify each Dynamics 365 form in the table and define where a click on the edoc plugin ecm function should take the user.

Finally, use the associated data source name (table) to define the table from which the index definition should use the properties for the link to the ECM system, e.g. SalesTable.

If you only specify a link to the start page of a web application, you do not need a data source name or an indexing definition ID.

Suppose you want to display the edoc plugin ecm function in the order overview in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.

Here's how

  1. Open edoc plugin ecm > Setup > Bases > Button visibility in the sidebar.

  2. Click New on the menu bar to add an entry to the table.

  3. In the Name and Description columns, enter a meaningful name and description for the link that is to be visible in the form under edoc plugin ecm. The name is displayed as text for the link in the form. The description is displayed as a tooltip.

  4. In the Form name column, enter the Dynamics 365 forms in which the edoc plugin ecm function should be visible. Example: SalesTableListPage to display the function in the view for all orders in the ribbon.

  5. If you want to link the indexing definition, proceed as follows:

    1. For each form, select the corresponding Dynamics 365 database table in the Datasource name column. Example: SalesTable is the corresponding index table entry for SalesTableListPage.

    2. Select an indexing definition in the Index Definition ID field.

  6. If you want to display any page of a web application, proceed as follows:

    1. Enter the link to the corresponding page of the web application in the URL field. In this case, you do not need an entry in the Datasource name and Index Definition ID fields.

  7. In the Opening type column, specify whether the link should open a new tab in the browser or be displayed embedded in Dynamics 365.

  8. In the Active column, activate the entries in the row and save your changes.

You can edit or delete the entries at any time using the functions on the menu bar.
