What does "category" mean in the context of edoc archive service?

The edoc archive service is used for communication between different ERP systems and ECM systems. In the different ECM systems, there are different terms for the collection of digital elements and for the different categories of documents:

  • Files (dossiers) or lists as a digital "bracket" (collection category) for documents

  • Document types as a classification criterion for documents


"Category" as a connecting element when mapping fields

Regardless of whether you are confronted with files, lists, document types as digital elements, all terms are referred to as "category" in edoc archive service.

As soon as you define your process types and field mappings, the respective categories are retrieved from the ECM system and are available to you as an ECM category. In the field mapping, you then map the values of the ERP fields or other content to the properties of a specific ECM category.
