What does "process type" mean in the context of edoc archive service?

edoc archive service is used to exchange and synchronize different data between your ERP and ECM systems based on an event. Data exchange and synchronization between the systems is a process type in which various criteria are defined.

To ensure that the process for exchanging and synchronizing data is successful, configure a process type in edoc archive service.

Process types in edoc archive service are a way of defining the handling of data per process for the applications involved (mapped systems).

The process type contains the following data:

  • Origin and destination of the data: an event (process for posting, checking, versioning, archiving) can be triggered at different points in the ERP system or ECM system. You can define individual processes individually in a process type, e.g. to synchronize or exchange data with the system involved. The origin and destination as well as the actions to be performed are clearly defined in the process type:

    • Define the origin table that is used to trigger the process in the system.

    • Define the actions for the generated data in the destination system.

  • Types of data: In the process type, certain types of data are transferred in your ERP or ECM system. You can individually define which data should be transferred:

    • Create a new record for a data collection, e.g. a file in the ECM system.

    • Archive a generated report.

The function for process types provides you with a clear and easy-to-configure method in the mapped system for exchanging and synchronizing data between systems (applications).
