edoc connect for shc does not open in the default browser

Summary

You open the edoc connect for shc results list with the Start DMS function in SHCware. The page with the results list is not displayed in the default browser.

The default browser for links that are called up from SHCware is not linked to the browser specified in the operating system. You must therefore configure the default browser for links from SHCware separately.

You must make this setting for the link to the standard browser separately on each SHCware workstation. The setting is made in the Windows registry. You can also distribute values from the Windows registry to the workstations using a distribution mechanism.

Important requirements

• You need write access to the Windows registry key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.

• You need the absolute path to the executable file of the browser to be stored as the default browser.

Solution

1. Open the Registry Editor under Windows as follows:

   1. Press the Windows key+R on your keyboard.

   2. Enter regedit.

   3. Confirm the entry with OK.

2. Navigate to the registry key Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\shell\open\. The value of command contains the currently specified default browser.

3. Change the value of command to the desired browser. Example for Mozilla Firefox: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" %1

4. Close the Windows registry editor after you have adjusted the value.

The new default browser will be used the next time you open the edoc connect for shc results list with Start DMS.
