Summary
If you update and distribute d.3 smart explorer as administrator, d.3 smart explorer may not be updated correctly.
Your users will still receive the following message when working with or opening d.3 smart explorer: "A new version of d.3 smart explorer is available."
The message is regularly displayed for users.
Important requirements
-
You need administrative permissions on the d.3 application server.
-
You must have write access to the d3client.prg directory.
-
You know the process for creating and distributing a new d.3client package.
Solution
The message appears for your users if the distributed files in the d3client.prg directory are corrupt. You must delete the corrupt files and then create a new d.3client package.
Here's how
-
Navigate to the d3client.prg directory on the d.3 application server.
-
Delete all files with a size of 0 kilobytes.
-
Delete all files that end with an underscore:
-
Open the command prompt (CMD) with administration rights in the d3client.prg main directory.
-
Enter the following in the command prompt:
del *.*_
-
-
Create a new d.3client package.
-
If required, distribute the newly created d.3client package. The application is updated when the PC is restarted, even without distribution.
The update of d.3 smart explorer is carried out correctly. The message is no longer displayed repeatedly.
