Silent Cube system no longer accessible after update

Summary

You have updated your Silent Cube system or moved to another server. After updating the Silent Cube system, you can no longer access the system.

With the update of the Silent Cube firmware to version 2.9.5 (Build 77815), the NTLM protocol version 1.0 is no longer supported.

You must adjust the local security policy for Network security: LAN Manager authentication level on the server.

Important requirements

• You have administrative access to the Windows server with Fast LTA Silent Cube.

• You must restart the server after configuration. Plan the restart with your team if necessary.

Solution

How to change the local security policy on the server with Silent Cube:

1. Start the command prompt (cmd.exe) with administration permissions.

2. Enter secpol.msc to open the security guidelines.

3. Go to Local Policies > Security Options > Network security: LAN Manager authentication level.

4. Change the value for Network security: LAN Manager authentication level to Send NTLMv2 Response only.

5. Restart the server.
