Summary
Ubuntu can indicate a pending restart when establishing a new connection via SSH.
The message reads: "System restart required".
The message is displayed in the console as soon as you connect to edoc platform via SSH.
The reason for the message is an update of the operating system that requires a restart. The functionality of edoc products is not affected. Ubuntu will not automatically restart the operating system.
You can restart the VM (virtual machine) manually at any time.
Important requirements
-
You need administrative access to the edoc platform-VM server console. Access is only possible via the SSH protocol.
-
The edoc applications are not available to you while the VM is restarting.
-
Plan the restart with everyone involved. We recommend that you plan a maintenance window of approx. 30 minutes.
Solution
-
Open the server console for access via SSH
-
Log in with an administrative user.
-
Execute the following command:
sudo reboot
The VM is now restarted. After the restart, the edoc platform processes are started automatically.
